The connection was dead to begin with.
Let me introduce to you the ghost of Christmas past. Wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life he decided to take an extended vacation, in the far reaches of the country. His days aren’t filled with sullen shoppers or road trips around a multi-storey car park. No. He has the fresh country air at his back, the crisp untouched snow at his feet and nothing but the open air above him. But this move away from the social city will still leave him feeling cold. Without the modern advantages of technology, the ghost cannot contact his loved ones on Christmas day quite so easily. He must be more laborious in his efforts of communication, and instead he spends his time searching the local village for a telephone with which to wish his family Merry Christmas.
The ghost of Christmas present
The ghost of Christmas present learnt a lot from the ghost of Christmas past. She too wished to escape the hustle and bustle of City life and have a nice little festive getaway. She did her shopping early to avoid long check-out queues, and not wishing to spend her time traipsing around her tranquil hamlet, she has with her a magical device. Behold, a mobile phone. Yes, now she can contact her family on Christmas day from the comfort of her snow-covered cabin. All is well… But wait… she bolts upright in her four-poster bed, in the middle of the night. “I didn’t buy little Timothy a present!” Frantically, she tries to order something online but she is forgetting the one downfall to her holiday. The GPRS signal on her phone is too weak to load up even the google search bar… Poor Timothy!
The ghost of Christmas future
The ghost of Christmas future may be the wisest spirit of them all. They do not care for the holiday crunch. In fact, they went on their break a week early and said no thank you to High street shopping. “But what about the presents?”, I hear you ask. Well, the Ghost of Christmas future has with them a tablet and is staying in Wi-Fi Friendly Accommodation. Not only have they ordered all their festive shopping online in anticipation of the big day, but when it arrives they will be facetiming their family whilst toasting marshmallows by the chalets open fireplace… They always were ahead of their time!
